SUNSETS & SILHOUETTES
SYNOPSIS: Bethany is an elderly woman, slowly dying in the comfort and loneliness of her own home. Jessica struggles through a life of abuse as an ageing prostitute well past her prime. Their lives change by the arrival of Matthew a 40 something with a dark secret.
I’ve had this short film project on the go for a while now and things are starting to come to fruition. I’ve got most of the crew sewn up but a few positions left to fill. I’m still looking for an AD and a Production Designer in particular, so get in touch if you’re interested, tim@factotumfilms.co.uk
We’ve just put out a casting call this week for various characters. I won’t bore anyone with the details but if you’re an actor, male or female, between the ages of 35 and 80 then drop me a line and I’d be happy to send you more details.
Above is the casting poster I designed to generate some interest in the project. The film has strong themes of birth, death and mortality which is reflected in the sunrise/sunset.
I’m really excited by this project and hope we manage to secure the funding to get it well and truly under way.
Wish me luck folks.

LIGHT PARADES - SPARKLE

Over the last couple of month’s I’ve been busy in Factotum Films mode. Shaun and I have been working on a short video clip for a movie that we can’t really talk about until its release next Oct, so until then that’s all you can expect to hear. However Duncan has dawned his producer cap for a music video I have written and directed for the band Light Parades.

Dan from Light Parades asked me a short while ago to write and direct a promo video for the band’s single from their debut album/EP. As yet the album/EP is untitled but their single isa beautiful atmospheric slow burner called Sparkle.

I don’t want to get into specifics of the video’s narrative so for now you’ll have to make do with these teaser images until the video is ready for release. The release date will be set by the band but we’re expecting it to be around February/March sort of time.

As always I’ll let you know nearer the time.

Written & Directed by Tim Courtney
Produced by Duncan Leishman
Cinematography by Sam Brill
Starring Jade Lindores, Paul Massie
Costumes by Lori Marshall

The Last Coffee Shop In Paris

I designed these posters in January in a way to generate funding for the project that will become my first feature film. You can still buy prints on my website here. All money from sales goes toward the budget for production.

Right enough about the sales pitch as I want to talk about where the project is sitting at now.

I am about to under go the 6th draft of the script adapted from a short story by Kevin Gillespie about a man’s search for his long lost love in a foreign country. The structure for the film has evolved into something completely different since the project was first started but it is now working on a level that could mean we have something pretty special here.

Shaun and Caroline have been ever present in its development as per usual in their roles as collaborators and Factotum producers but I also have the pleasure of working with No More Shall We Part producer Duncan Leishman in putting all the building blocks in place.

We still have no funding for this film that will be shot mostly (Guerilla style) in Paris but we are exploring some options and potential investors.

The project is also in conjunction with Katerwaul’s record label Brave Or Invincible where all the songs used in the soundtrack will all be from acts on or associated with the label. This gives us the exciting prospect of having a soundtrack release that helps the film and Factotum as a company but also a film that helps sell the label too.

Finally I can confirm that poetry-smith Kevin Gilday has lent his talent by writing a poem for one of the film’s pivotal scenes.

That’s all for now but I’ll keep you updated as we progress.

To find out how you can help with this project just drop me a line on tim@factotumfilms.co.uk or help finance the adventure by purchasing a poster or a copy of An Artificial Light on my site.

Thanks for reading.
